Photo checklist: how to photograph a dental handpiece part for identification

A repeatable photo checklist that gives a parts specialist or identification agent enough evidence to narrow a replacement part.

Xpartara Technical Desk·

Take evidence photos, not just product photos

A useful identification photo is designed to expose identifiers and interfaces. Clean lighting, sharp focus, and a neutral background matter because small engravings, hole patterns, and connector features can carry more identification value than the overall silhouette.

  • One full-part photo from directly above
  • One side view
  • One close-up of the connector or mating surface
  • One close-up of every readable label, engraving, SKU, or MPN
  • A ruler or caliper reading when dimensions are relevant

Include the handpiece itself when possible

If the removed component has no readable identifier, include a photo of the handpiece body showing the manufacturer and model. This gives the matching process an independent evidence source instead of forcing the part image to carry the entire identification decision.

What the Xpartara upload workflow does

The concierge can read supported image and PDF uploads, extract visible text and observable features, search the catalog, and return bounded candidates. The original upload is not retained in the concierge case; derived non-PII evidence is stored with the case so the RFQ can continue without asking the customer to repeat the same information.
